Volume: ordering concrete without waste

Cubic metres for slabs, footings and truckloads.

20 min

How the words are written:

Matched to your check-in

Volume = length × width × depth

A slab 6m × 4m × 0.1m = 2.4 m³. Change millimetres into metres first. 100mm = 0.1m.

Ordering

Concrete comes in steps of 0.2 m³. Round up. Running out costs a lot more than having a bit extra.

Knowledge check

Two quick questions to show you have it.

  1. 1. A slab is 5m × 4m × 100mm. How much concrete?

  2. 2. A footing is 12m × 0.4m × 0.5m. Volume?
