What a hazard is
A hazard is anything that could hurt someone. It can be a thing, a person, a power source, or the way a job is done.
- Physical: open trench, moving plant, loose material at height
- Environmental: heat, dust, storm water, wildlife
- Chemical: fuel, solvents, wet cement
- Human: fatigue, rushing, unfamiliar task
The pre-start walk
Look up. Look down. Look around. Check for power lines above you. Check the ground you will stand on. Check who else is moving nearby. Write down what you find. Your memory is not good enough on its own.
